Blessing the World
Each morning that I wake up, I can bless the world.
I pray to be a servant today… something true and holy.
Taking a deep breath, I surrender to God’s plan for my life.
And when I do, I experience pure joy.

Creative One,
You have fashioned me from the dirt of the earth, the kiss of your lips.
What can I say to such outpouring of love?
How do I respond?
Your overtures are plain as you take the initiative.
I can do no other… I open my heart to you.
Comfort
God, I could scream!
“Will you hold please? All lines are busy now.”
“Sorry lady, it can’t be fixed.”
“You’ll need to go in that other line for information.”
Why can’t life run smoothly?
My way.
My convenience.
With a logical flow
and orderly conduct.
What comfort to know your presence, God
in the midst of chaos,
exasperation and impatience.
A place to return,

The Question
I am not the kind of person I want to be.
I am a long way from what I thought were my goals.
I have more failures than successes
I am not wealthy or powerful.
Grace tells me I am accepted
just as I am.
Do I rely on my resume or the gospel of grace?

Opportunity of a Lifetime
God, you have fashioned me
from the dust of the earth,
from the kiss of your lips.
What can I say to such outpouring of love?

Your overtures are plain,
taking the initiative
issuing the invitation.
Not some fly-by-night cad
stealing my heart.
But you offer the opportunity of a lifetime.
Courage
I have dreams, Lord.
Calorie-free chocolate covered peanuts.
Beds that make themselves.
The most beautiful dress on the rack is not the most expensive.
My wish list grows too.
Long time friends and family moving closer.
Children who don’t get ill demanding a sick day.
An institution that “gets it” for once.
Wishes and dreams.
Not too romantic, I know God.
